MISSION STATEMENT


The Technological University of the Philippines - Visayas, initially established as Visayan Technician Institute, a prototype technician institute servicing the Visayas, shall continue to explore and develop technological programs as part of the national thrust towards the democratization of opportunities and optimization of benefits so that the Filipino People will be the instrument and beneficiary of Philippine industrialization.

TUP Visayas as a center of excellence in technological education is to be a vibrant catalyst of change for the industrial development of the country by exploring more demand-driven, relevant and sustainable pioneering programs. It will continue to nurture its students to develop the proper knowledge, skills and attitudes required in the global economic environment. It will ensure its lead role at the cutting edge of technological education through vigorous pursuits in research and extension programs

VISION

The TUP Visayas will be the center of excellence in technological and training: it will manage by highly trained, dynamic and productive personnel to produce globally competitive and values-oriented graduates.

MAJOR GOALS

Industrial technicians play a vital role in the Industrial Manpower Pyramid as the middle link between upper level technologists or engineers and the craftsmen or skilled workers. The technicians interpret as well as implement designs into working realities and see to it that the craftsmen’s jobs are done properly. The jobs of the technicians require not only manual dexterity and creativity of the craftsmen but also of the keen and analytical mind of the engineers as well. The following goals are intended to focus the university’s efforts and resources in producing these types of graduates.

1. Provide higher and advanced technological education and training that will set the leadership in the technical, industrial, technological and related fields.

2. Provide a stream of trained manpower, highly qualified and competent in technical skills as an approach to matching manpower needs in the region and the nation.

3. Pursue research and development programs dovetailed to national priorities.

4. Complement efforts in the transfer of technology to the countryside through extension services to balance access to educational and training opportunities.
